Let Go of Bad Friendships And Keep Moving

"Far, Far Away" by FrancaFranchi
"Far, Far Away" by Franca Franchi

Friendship is a word we casually toss around. We use it carelessly to describe relationships that are not worthy of its description. But a friendship in its purest form is to be cherished and genuinely thankful for.

Bad friendships are as common as breathing. Everyone who wants to get close to you does not have good intentions. When it becomes clear that there's an imposter in your zone, it's time to let go of bad friendships and keep moving.

Unfortunately, we measure a so-called 'friendly' encounter with a 'smile'. That's a big mistake. Smiling faces are notorious for hiding negative agendas.

I remember some song lyrics (from back when song lyrics had meaningful messages) that cleverly convey this message:

Smiling faces sometimes pretend to be your friend.
Smiling faces show no traces of the evil that lurks within.

Smiling faces, smiling faces sometimes they don't tell the truth
Smiling faces, smiling faces tell lies and I got proof

The truth is in the eyes cause the eyes don't lie, amen.
Remember that a smile is just a frown turned upside down, my friend.

Smiling faces, smiling faces sometimes they don't tell the truth
Smiling faces, smiling faces tell lies and I got proof.

Beware of the handshake
That hides the snake.

I'm telling you. Beware of the pat on the back
It just might hold you back.

Jealousy
Misery
Envy

Your enemy won't do you no harm
Cause you know where he's coming from.

Don't let the handshake and the smile fool ya'.
Take my advice I'm only trying to school ya'.

Nuff said.

But knowing the signs of a bad friendship wouldn't hurt.

When you realize someone with bad intentions is in your 'friend' zone. You gotta find a subtle way of removing them from your space (at least that's what my grandmother taught us).

She would say, "When you realize your hand is in a lion's mouth, you have to ease it out." In other words, slowly put their wicked behinds into your rearview mirror.

Never mind the slave talk about 'love your enemies' and 'turn the other cheek'. You only have two cheeks and you turned both of them years ago. Don't be ignorant.

I had a so-called friend in my life who managed to make me feel bad every time we crossed paths. I dropped that individual like an overweight what-not. I didn't take the time to let him down easy. He had to go immediately -like last year. So I made it happen.

After that, he bad-mouthed me to anyone who would listen. After that, it's like he made it his life's mission to destroy my character. Twisting reality and spewing poison.
"...no weapon formed against you shall prosper; and every tongue that rises against you in judgement you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of YAH. 'And their righteousness is from Me', says YAH."  --Isaiah 5:17

You give people the benefit of the doubt, but there's a price to pay when you're wrong. I've learned to practice asking YAH's advice in all matters. -especially when it comes to allowing people into my personal space.

Shalom
